Esha Bansal

Esha came to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai from the University of Pennsylvania, where she studied International Relations & Business in the Huntsman Program.

Before entering ISMMS as a Global Health Scholar in 2019, Esha worked with the Public Health Agency of Barcelona in Spain and served as an environmental health research fellow in Italy through the International Exchange Program for Minority Students.

While at ISMMS, Esha developed an elective course using film narratives to explore global women’s health topics, conducted epidemiology research on prenatal air pollution exposures in Mexico City, and studied cardiac health inequities in Haiti through Haiti Cardiac Alliance. She published several academic articles in peer-reviewed journals, received the 2021 Excellence in Public Health Award of the US Physician National Advisory Committee, and participated in the 2022 Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics (FASPE) Medical Cohort in Germany and Poland.

Esha is grateful to her family, partner, close friends, and the several Mount Sinai faculty members at Sinai who have made her medical education a meaningful and defining experience, both personally and professionally.

Esha will graduate with her MD/MPH degree and continue residency training in Internal Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, with the goal of becoming a physician leader in the fields of global health and gender equity.
