Harrison Jacob Kaplan

Harrison came to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he majored in Computer Science and Molecular Biology.

While at Icahn, Harrison was a member of the Sinai BioDesign Student Working Group and a co-founder of Healthcare Huddle, a healthcare news and education company. He served as a leader of the Transplant Surgery Interest Group and Scrubs Addressing the Firearm Epidemic, and has continued to volunteer as a supervisor for MIT Emergency Medical Services. He has published five manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals on topics including disparities in surgical outcomes and quality improvement and is graduating with distinction in research.

Harrison would like to thank his family, friends, and many faculty members at Mount Sinai, including but not limited to Dr. Michael Leitman, Dr. Susan Lerner, Dr. Alan Benvenisty, Dr. Celia Divino, and Dr. Michael Marin, who have made his medical education thus far an enjoyable and rewarding experience and who have helped guide and support his path into the field of surgery.

Harrison will graduate with his MD degree and continue his residency training in General Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, where he will be a member of the innovation track.
