Steven Chen

Steven came to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai from Cornell University where he majored in Biological Sciences-Molecular Cell Biology and graduated magna cum laude. Before attending Icahn, Steven worked as a research assistant at Rockefeller University. He entered the MD/PhD program in 2015.

While at Icahn, Steven participated in the East Harlem Health Outreach Partnership (EHHOP) as a Chronic Care Senior Clinician, Research Chair, and Head Teaching Senior. He also helped establish a new ancillary clinic at EHHOP in his role as the Gastrointestinal/Liver Clinic Teaching Senior. During his PhD, he was a teaching assistant for the graduate level courses Fundamentals of Immunology and Biomedical Sciences for MD/PhD, as well as the Medical School Admissions Preparation program. He completed his doctoral research in Immunology in the labs of Dr. Miriam Merad and Dr. Brian Brown.

Steven would like to thank his research mentors, laboratory members, thesis committee, and the MD/PhD leadership for their guidance throughout his time at Icahn. He would also like to thank his friends and family for their unwavering support and love.

Steven will graduate with his MD/PhD degree and continue his residency training in Internal Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical Center-New York Presbyterian Hospital.
